Customer Reviews: Car Vent Mount Holder+Charger For Samsung Galaxy S2 S 2

This review is from: Car Vent Mount Holder+Charger For Samsung Galaxy S2 S 2 (Wireless Phone Accessory) it works for what it’s intended, good for the price. but consider your car’s vents, if it’s vertical, it moves as you make turns. i think it would work better with horizontal vents.

Customer Reviews: Maxell P-13 Stereo FM Transmitter

I’d give this thing 5 stars for the price, but the lack of useful instructions & operating tips with the unit made me take away a star, & is probably the reason for some poor reviews here.

First, the unit does not have 4 “bands”. It has 4 frequencies to choose from between 88.1-88.7mhz. If you have a crummy radio that only picks up strong stations, or picks up bits of a strong station on more than 1 place on the dial, most FM transmitters will give you problems with those basic & cheap radios.

I have not used this unit in a car yet (got it primarily for the laptop & mp3 player), but if you follow my tips, it shouldn’t give you a problem.

When you open the battery cover, you’ll find a black wire around the circumference inside. This is the transmitting antenna. If you grab the black tip of it, it extends out & through the hole in the battery cover when you replace the cover.

With the antenna wire not extended & remaining inside, I was able to listen to my music perfectly throughout an entire 2 bedroom apartment on my Eton E5 & Realistic DX-390 radios. On my Grindig Mini 300 & GE SuperRadio* I was only able to get good reception no further than the next adjoining room.

With the wire extended out through the battery cover hole, I was able to get perfect reception on all my radios through the entire apartment, the attic above, & the floor below me… in a metal frame building. With the E5 radio, I was able to pick up the transmitter from the ground floor, 3 floors below.

I tried to twist a couple feet of wire to the transmitter’s antenna wire to extend it. No need to strip off the wire’s insulation… radio waves easily pass right through it. I was able to pick up the transmitter on the ground floor with any radio, & on the E5 form across the street, & down the street a few doors.

It looks like someone handy could just loosen the screws inside & permanently solder a slightly longer antenna wire in it.

The instructions do warn to keep your player volume low or you’ll overdrive & distort the transmitter. I find the transmitter input is sensitive enough to be overdriven with the volume set at under halfway on most players & laptops. So start off with the player volume on a very low setting, & the radio’s volume at average or higher to get a very clean sound.

Since I have a lot of radios with built in speakers, from the size of a cigarette pack to a boom box, I couldn’t see investing in amplified speakers for a player or laptop & still be somewhat portable & mobile. With the transmitter, any decent radio can serve as a wireless amplified speaker system… small enough to fit into a shirt pocket or a large loud box.

Blue & white LEDs require at least 3.6 volts to light, unlike older red, orange, yellow, & green LEDs than only require 2 volts. The transmitter probably uses 3 AAA cells for enough voltage to power the blue LED. The 3 rechargable AAA cells I’m using in it have lasted over a month so far, & are still going strong.

*Everyone seems to praise the GE SuperRadio as very sensitive. It is not, & is only a little more sensitive than any cheap radio you can buy from your drugstore. It is cheap though, & if you do pick up a good signal onit, it has excellent sound for a portable, rivaling many bigger & more expensive boom boxes. With the transmitter, I use it as a super great & loud, wireless powered speaker. It takes 6 “D” batteries, but they last months.

Customer Reviews: Black Split Loom Tubing – 1″ I.D. / 6′ Length : SLT1-6

This review is from: Black Split Loom Tubing – 1″ I.D. / 6′ Length : SLT1-6 (Electronics) Received the package in a timely matter but when I opened the package I ordered 2-6′ sections, one of the 6′ sections was cut several inches short. Looks like they were cut off a bulk roll and one was cut short. I was disappointed because I needed ALL of the 6′ I paid for!

Customer Reviews: CyberPower CPS400AI 400 Watt Power Inverter with USB Port

This review is from: CyberPower CPS400AI 400 Watt Power Inverter with USB Port (Lawn & Patio) Just got a chance to test this guy on a ~1,000 mile trip. Worked well, under varying temperature conditions. Like any inverter of this wattage it has a fan, and this one is loud, so I wouldn’t recommend placing it too close to the front of the car.

I’m going to pick up a low-watt silent inverter to handle what I was using this for (laptop, cell charger), and move this guy to the back of the car. Still very glad I have it.

I’ve found CyberPower to be a solid manufacturer, used their support on a different item that was annihilated by UPS and they are US based (you’re speaking to people who know the product, aren’t just subcontracted phone support) and very helpful.

Customer Reviews: Magellan 980781 eXplorist AC Wall Adapter

I lost the power adapter and the USB. Make sure that you order the right USB. The one shown is a XL. I mistakenly order the XL. I returned it and got the right one. The power adapter works with both models.

Customer Reviews: Metra 70-7303 Harness for Hyundai/Kia 2009 and Up with Infinity Sound System

This review is from: Metra 70-7303 Harness for Hyundai/Kia 2009 and Up with Infinity Sound System (Electronics) First of all, this harness is not only for the infinity sound system. It fits my 2010 Sonata which has no infinity sound system. The only thing is that the red connector is not used in my system because all it does is turn on the amp that comes with the infinity sound system. Go look at the metra website; it will clearly tell what harness is needed for your car. Then copy and paste the product number on amazon. But other than that it works fine with my car.

Customer Reviews: Audiobahn AWIS12J 12-Inch Quad 2 ohm Immortal Series Car Subwoofer

This sub hits hard. I only have one, and I had a custom box made for it. It feels pretty good when almost everyone that hears it asks what kind of subs I have and I tell them that I only have one. Most of them are like, that’s crazy. I have a nice Audiobahn A2300HCJ amp hooked up to it also. Just ordered some Hushmat so hopefully it will help the annoying rattling. I Recommend this sub to everyone!

Customer Reviews: Metra 99-7898 Dash Kit For Honda Multikit88-Up

I wasn’t expecting anything special when I ordered this kit. However, when I got it, I was somewhat surprised that its overall construction was better than other kits I’ve purchased in the past. Every piece is sturdy, ABS plastic. Black and texture-matched to most Honda accessory dashes. Everything was sorted in separate bags, according to model, and extra hardware was included. Instructions in a booklet, with excellent little diagrams that make the assembly seem completely fool-proof.

So why the poor review? Well, here’s why:

I followed the directions to prepare the kit to fit into my model Honda, the 90-93 Accord. I followed the instructions and diagrams, removing the tabs that the instructions listed in order to fit my application. I then placed my DIN head unit’s sleeve into the kit’s DIN slot, fitted the radio, and tried mounting it into my 90 Accord’s dash. All seemed well. Until I tried fitting it into the dash. It didn’t lock into place, and had plenty of play on every side.

That’s right. It didn’t fit. Why? Well, because the instructions asked for the removal of the WRONG tabs, and so the kit couldn’t brace itself into the dash with the added weight of the radio. Shocked and puzzled, I double checked to make sure that I removed the right tabs. Sure enough, tabs C and H were on the kit – the only pairs required, according to the instructions.

here are the instructions, word for word (grammar mistakes left intact):
“…Cut and remove the all mounting clips on the Radio Housing EXCEPT clips “C” and “H” (The clips can be identified by the stamped letter near each clip).”

I was pretty disappointed. Angry, actually. Yes, I was pretty peeved.

Unable to return the opened kit, I went to a local hardware store and bought some epoxy putty and a can of flat black paint – $7 total. With the putty, I sculpted and sanded made my own set of tabs on the kit, after locating some areas in my car’s DIN radio slots to secure the kit and radio as best as possible. Oh, not only that, I also patched some holes that were in the sleeve below the radio slot, and a few that were above the radio on the outer bezel. Yeah, it has holes. Holes that are where (I’m assuming, by the looks of it) where the mold was injected with plastic during production. I was able to salvage some donor parts from the remaining reservoir of pieces available in the kit for other model Hondas, and fabricated them into the bottom of the kit to be sure that it would fit snug into place in my dash, without room to play or damage the radio over a bump or pothole. I painted the whole thing over, with multiple coats of the flat black paint, and it came out looking exactly like it had before paint was applied. Perfect.

In the end, with my custom fabrication work, I was pleased with what I made out of this abysmal Metra kit. Although disappointed at first, the extra work paid off in the end. I’ve pretty much made a custom kit out of it for my model car, and because of that it fits perfectly.

I can’t speak for the other model Hondas that this kit supposedly works for, but as far as the 90-93 (CB7) Accord goes, don’t purchase this unless you’re willing to put a little effort into it, because the fitiment is absolutely ridiculous.

Be sure to study the kit and your Honda’s radio dock to be sure that you’re removing the appropriate tabs. This is one instance where I’m requesting that you DO NOT follow the instructions, but rather overview the instructions AND your application before you begin tailoring it.

Customer Reviews: Dice i-Mazda/Mazda 3 & 5 /Protege/Tribute/ IPod Adapter w/ Aux Audio Input

I bought this unit for my ’07 Camry with Navigation after DICE Electronics assured me that it was compatible. While I guess you could say that it works with my stereo/nav unit, it’s so unreliable that it is almost useless. I go on long drives and listen to a lot of audiobooks on my iPod. If I make a quick stop, upon restarting my car, I often find that the book (or podcast, or song, or whatever) has been reset back to the beginning. If I didn’t happen to notice the exact hours and minutes of the audiobook, I have to search through it to find my place. Very annoying and a real time waster. It also randomly pauses my iPod without me touching it, then restarts it again a few seconds later. It is capable of displaying the title and track name from the iPod, but then inexplicably blanks this information out. If I switch to map view and then back, the info reappears. If I disconnect and then reconnect the iPod (and who wouldn’t, as that’s kind of the whole point of having one), the DICE unit makes the iPod “forget” my place in the playlist. Upon reconnecting, it will always play the same track, out of the 10,000 or so on the iPod. I mean, I like “…And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead,” but I’m damn sick of hearing the opening of that one song. Finally, I should mention that when I sent this complaint via their online system, it took 6 weeks before anyone even posted a “say, did anyone ever help you with this?” When I answered in the negative, I never heard another word. Apparently, they don’t care if they have unhappy customers. Do yourself a favor, buy a VAISTech unit instead. It does the same thing, and while the reviews have been mixed, they have been far better than the DICE’s.

Customer Reviews: PYLE PLD70BT 7-Inch TFT Touch Screen DVD/VCD/CD/MP3/CD-R/USB/AM/FM/RDS Receiver and Bluetooth System

This review is from: PYLE PLD70BT 7-Inch TFT Touch Screen DVD/VCD/CD/MP3/CD-R/USB/AM/FM/RDS Receiver and Bluetooth System (Electronics) I like this unit. Installed this unit in a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. The screen slightly covers the climate controls, but when the screen is tilted, they can be accessed easily. The sound quality is good, all the connectors are solid, and the bluetooth works great for both calls and music. Use this with your Smartphone and stream some Pandora, it sounds great. Picture quality is good, and the touch screen is responsive for a resistive touch screen.

The only complaint is that the screen will show some artifacts when it is really cold. Get the heat goning, and it looks fine once it warms up.

Great buy for the money!

Customer Reviews: Powermonkey V2 Pink

This review is from: Powermonkey V2 Purple (Electronics) I got one of these a few years ago when they first came out and now we own three and keep them charged at all times so we can grab one on our way out the door if anything (in our case, Iphones and Ipods) needs charging. We also take them on trips so that we can each watch a movie on the plane and not end up with a completely drained Ipod or Iphone when we arrive at our destination!

Wonderful product!!!

One side note, Power Monkey also makes one with a digital readout letting you know how much charge is left – that is a particularly useful feature – my old one has it, the purple ones do not.

Customer Reviews: Pro.Fit International UL-242BG UltiMount V2 Universal Vehicle Mount

Pro.Fit miCRADLE iPhone® holder
Pro.Fit UltiMount V2 Universal-fit mount for electronic devices (Model UL-242BG)

With a lot of research behind me, I decided to purchase the 3G miCradle and the UltiMount V2 Universal-fit mount for my new 3G iPhone. I travel a lot and have cut back on flying preferring rather to drive as much as I can so I wanted something that is as close to OEM and professional looking as possible in my Chrysler 300.

I was impressed with the overall look and feel when I first opened the box and really impressed with the fit, materials chosen, and quality after examining the products. The 3G iPhone fits snugly but slides smoothly into the miCradle. The UltiMount was chosen after checking the dimensions to position the iPhone just to the right of my right hand resting at about 2 o’clock on the steering wheel. The mount positions the iPhone between the instrument panel bezel and the center/left air conditioning outlet on the dash. Note: this position most likely would not work with a car that has a steering column mounted shifter but is great with my Chrysler 300 center console mounted shifter.

The circular rubber adhesive mount fit very nicely on the inside of the instrument panel bezel and is very unobtrusive. The UltiMount even has a ball joint that allows you to rotate the 3G iPhone just in case you need to watch a YouTube video as you drive down the highway…just kidding about driving while watching the video, but you get the idea. The miCradle even came with a rubber trim piece with an unobtrusive Pro Fit logo to cover the mounting screws used to attach the miCradle to the UltiMount. The UltiMount mounting plate also has recessed openings for the nuts so that all you need to attach the screws is a screw driver. Pro Fit thought of everything with this simple yet well engineered mounting system.

Pro Fit makes a wide variety of mounts for the miCradle including vehicle specific mounts but I wanted the option of moving this to another vehicle. You can do the research at [...].

I have purchased several different car mounts and wish that I had found Pro Fit before and save my money. This UltiMount and miCradle was less than $50 and worth every penny. I have low expectation of mass produced plastic devices, but Pro Fit had quality in mind when they chose the materials for this application. Every once in a while we come across a company that just gets it and Pro Fit is one of those companies. Good job Pro Fit.

Customer Reviews: Gorilla Automotive 7017 Motorcycle Alarm with 2-Way Paging System

This review is from: Gorilla Automotive 7017 Motorcycle Alarm with 2-Way Paging System (Automotive) If you follow the directions closely, the installation should go fine. I spent more time trying to figure out where to locate the alarm than the actual installation took. Be sure to have all the remotes ready when the system is initially powered on so you can get them programmed on the first try. Once installed, I noticed that the motion sensor alarm was chirping several times during each cool-down period after I rode the bike and set the alarm. Not sure if this is typical of other users, but I ended up lowering the sensitivity to the middle of the seven step range as described in the directions. This seems to help prevent the inadvertent alarms but it does take a much stronger shake to get the alarm to go off now. Probably need to raise the sensitivity a notch or two. The range on the pager is probably more like a few hundred feet if you’re in a building next to the motorcycle. In an open area with scattered buildings it might be close to a quarter mile. The one feature I’d really like to see them add is a battery backup. Other than that I think it’s a great product, especially at this price point, and would readily recommend it to others.

Customer Reviews: NAVGEAR 14027 Universal GPS Vent Mount

This review is from: NAVGEAR 14027 Universal GPS Vent Mount (Electronics) This GPS vent mount is absolutely perfect and fits great in my 2001 Honda Accord, but only after looking at it a few minutes until I found one of its super-flexible aspects. It seems extremely versatile and I could get it to fit exactly where I wanted and oriented the GPS exactly how I wanted. I almost thought it wasn’t going to work without rigging up my own tether to the vent by a simple large twist tie until I just realized that the mounting bracket itself is really flexible to adapt, not just the mount plates. This thing is really ingenious.

First, it comes in 2 parts, first the mounting bracket itself which has a universal socket of its own, and then 5 mount plates which hopefully cover with all that you will need. The box lists Garmin, Magellan, and TomTom, and “fits most brands”. I immediately recognized mine (TomTom), an O-shaped ring and connected mine on. The mounting bracket has a ball joint of its own and a knob that tighents or loosens. You might not realize it at first, but you can flip your whole mount upside down to make the whole mount higher or lower, such as the case for which way my O-ring hangs for my Tom Tom, up or down. Then the ball join lets you swivel and tilt, then lock it down once you have picked. So it doesn’t really rely on your device-specific mount plat or device having its own swivel. I find the mount plate flexibility and stability to be absolutely stellar. I really am thrilled.

Second, something you probably will not realize at first, is that the connection to the vent itself is very flexible. you don’t have to accept the prongs oriented as they are out of the box. The instructions are incredibly simple and without a good diagram to give you your options, so I didn’t realize it at first and couldn’t get it to connect and almost gave up. The prongs to the vent from the mount can be turned upside down to grab from under a blade on the vent or over the blade. By default it is over the blade. You can also slide them horizontally along a slot so that they line up with vertical blades in your vent. one thing you don’t realize at first is the angle of the bracket depending on whether you put the hook over or under a blade. I couldn’t get it to latch going over, then I realized it was because the angle of the whole bracket was too steep to fit. Flipping them around an clamping under worked easily. A simple trick is to just remove both prongs from the mount, and take one and try to hook one on its own which is super easy. Then you can try to connect the mount to it already affixed and you will see the angle of the prong connection to the mount which might not match depending on under or over. Then take it off, put it back on the mount, and hook both properly. The weight should actually rest on a lower lever that sits on the edge of the vent, not the blades, so it should just provide stability, not necessarily have to support weight. Another trick is that the prong might seem too thick at first for the fent. but you need to just hold back the spring and the piece it is pushing which stays on the outside of the blade and the rest of the arm is actually thin and hooks around. However, I could envision that some cars could still have entirely too narrow of slots, but it seems like most cars should work out.

Removing it isn’t quite as easy as the box claims. I find it easy to put on, but takes a little more maneuvering to get it off. I have to hold back the edge of the spring-blocks on the 2 prongs which have a lip for you to hold onto, and then I have to hold my vents up which are pushed down naturally as I try to unhook it, then it unhooks. I think more practice will make it faster.

Limitation on Magellan: Check your Magellan to see if it uses a double or single-groove mount point. This has an adapter for double-groove, but not single groove.

Customer Reviews: Rockford Fosgate Punch P1694 6-Inch x 9-Inch Full Range Coaxial Speakers

Like the title says, these speakers have just the right frequencies boosted to make them appear to car audio enthusiasts to have “clear” and “clean” sound. What I’m referring to is simply a boosted high frequency (6khz-16khz) response. I originally bought these to replace the poor-sounding paper cones in my home stereo. They really bring the music to life with their array of 3 tweeters. The 3/4″ tweeter, Rockford will refer to as a “titanium composite midrange”, but it is no more than the third tweeter in the the three-way crossover network.

6×9 oval speaker cones are notorious for causing unnecessary distortion when driven to high volumes, but these cones appear to have very good integrity and tensile strength to keep the distortion due to its shape kept to a minimum. The rubber surround around the cone has good excursion and should provide many years of reliable operation, even in the harsh environs of a car.

Now I have these installed in the rear deck of a Honda Civic. All I can say is that these were made to sound good in a noisy car. No adjustment is needed of the high band on the EQ at all. The old 1 way cones needed to have the high band cranked up to three quarters to hear cymbals and other high frequencies out of them. The bass is marginally better than the old speakers due to the higher excursion and better cone radiating area.

These are a clear, loud, and quality pair of speakers for around sixty dinero. Although, I would recommend 6.5″ speakers in a 6×9 location now because they are cheaper and have less distortion due to the circular shape. The upshot is that these offer decent bass performance.

This was a great gift that worked for a while until about a year ago. Now the unlock button doesn’t function whatsoever. Warranty period is short and when you contact them for advice, you get no apologies or concern that your expensive purchase is now malfunctioning and of no use. Terrible customer service after the sale. Think twice before purchasing from them. Customer Reviews: SSL F2.800 FORCE 800W, 2 Channel MOSFET Amplifier with Remote Subwoofer Level Control

This review is from: SSL F2.800 FORCE 800W, 2 Channel MOSFET Amplifier with Remote Subwoofer Level Control (Electronics) Bought this to replace a old 2 channel Profile california amp, 16 yrs old and still working fine just ugly and beat up now. I am running the f2.800 off a Kenwwood x494 and hooked up to a old pair of JBL GT1000′s in a .88 sealed box. The setup was easy and the new amp works just fine. I do however find the sound is slightly muddy when compared to the old profile amp. This may be fixed once I readjust the low pass filter maybe not. There is no way this puts out advertised power, maybe 100×2 watts but definately not 160×2 unless this is a 90% efficent class A/B amp. For the price this amp is worth 5 stars just don’t expect this to live up to it’s advertised power rating. :)

Customer Reviews: Bazooka BTA10100 BT Series 10-Inch 100-Watt Amplified Tube Subwoofer

This review is from: Bazooka BTA10250D BT Series 10-Inch 250-Watt Class D Amplified Tube (Electronics) I cannot put into words how much this thing surpassed my expectations. I have had smaller and less powerful bass tubes before so I expected something like those. This thing really does such a good job that people think I have a box with a couple of 12′s in the trunk.

I actually had a much higher end system priced out and was almost ready to pull the trigger, but I’m trying to save money (and space and weight in the car) so I begun looking into these. I like the fact that it is removeable if I want the entire trunk space available.

The sound is awesome and unexpected for this size of sub/enclosure/power. It sounds great down to 30 hz which is my sweet spot in base. I highly recommend getting the remote for better control of the bass from the drivers seat. It does not have a bass boost centered around a certain frequency like they normally do, but rather a level control (like an amp gain adjust) and a low pass crossover control. Both are handy when you have a song with lots of bass that you need to turn it down or a song with higher bass that you need to adjust the crossover.

Normally when I’m by myself or with one passenger I do leave the seatback down that is directly in front of the tube. It looks nice plus it sounds better. I did tests at 30/40 hz and there is a 3.5 Db loss in sound level when I close up the rear seat so I prefer it down. They recommend that you “corner load” the sub but honestly I prefer to have it facing forward. The way I have it mounted I can switch it around easily if I want to anyway. During install make sure you leave plenty of extra length to all the cables (RCA, turn on, power, ground, remote) so that you can move it around if you ever want/need to. I hid all the extra cable under the rear carpet for a clean looking install.

Customer Reviews: Absolute PROP2G20BL 2-Gauge Ultra Flexible Power Cable, 20 Feet (Blue)

This review is from: Absolute PROP2G20BL 2-Gauge Ultra Flexible Power Cable, 20 Feet (Blue) (Electronics) Used this for battery cable. The wall is nice and thick, and the cable is indeed very flexible. The strands are incredibly small and, once cut, will work themselves into your skin at every opportunity. This is not a bad thing, as – well, duh.

Would buy again if I have a need for large amounts of 2ga cable again.

Customer Reviews: Metra 99-5814S Single or Double DIN Installation Dash Kit for 2008-up Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, and Mazda Tribute (Silver)

This review is from: Metra 99-5814S Single or Double DIN Installation Dash Kit for 2008-up Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, and Mazda Tribute (Silver) (Electronics) I ordered this dash so I could install a Pioneer P4300DVD double DIN DVD player in my 2010 Ford Escape. The package arrived in very good condition in the original manufacturer wrappers. The instructions worked well for me but Ive done after market head unit installs before. The reason I gave the kit 4 stars instead of 5 is that no screws are included to bolt your head unit to the mounting brackets supplied with the kit. I went to Lowes and for $1.39 got (12) M5x6mm screws and that fixed me right up.

Color matched factory interior well.
All the holes lined up in the kit with the head unit and the Ford Escape dash.

Overall very satisfied, no negatives to list.

Customer Reviews: Sunforce 82151 Solar Motion Light

This review is from: Sunforce 82151 Solar Motion Light (Automotive) A landing light it is not. It will however provide some security in those hard to wire places such as an outdoor shed. Now, what they don’t say on the site: There are 4 AA batteries that last for “from 10 to 30 minutes” depending on usage. The super bright I would rename to OK bright. 30 minutes is a short time for $40, quality questionable and “water resistant” for an exterior light is not good enough. My opinion, save the money and go to Home Depot and buy a regular sensor light.

Customer Reviews: Xantrex Technologies 852-0400 XPower PowerSource 400-Watt Back-up Power Solution

This review is from: Xantrex Technologies 852-0400 XPower PowerSource 400-Watt Back-up Power Solution (Lawn & Patio) This is basically a standard UPS with three exceptions.

First, it is not intended for use on computers and thus does not have a USB connector to tell your computer to shut down when the power goes out.

Second, and most importantly, its battery capacity is about 6 times that of a standard UPS. For instance, the Tripplite 700 UPS has a 7aH battery, which will provide 400 watts of power for about 7 minutes. This unit has 2 20aH batteries, for a total of 40aH, and should provide 400 watts for about 35 minutes. My big screen, Onkyo surround system, and satellite dish draw about 200 watts, so in an outage, I can probably watch TV for an hour. If my PVR alone is left on, it can run for 5 hours or longer.

Third, this unit has a power meter on it, so you can tell exactly how many watts you are drawing.

Customer Reviews: XY7700 (with GPS map)In-Dash Double-Din Car Stereo/GPS/MultiMedia Player with 7.0 800×480 HD Digital LCD Touch Screen”

This review is from: XY7700 (with GPS map)In-Dash Double-Din Car Stereo/GPS/MultiMedia Player with 7.0 800×480 HD Digital LCD Touch Screen” (Electronics) I bought this with the impression it had a disc drive. Ya that was not the case. So I called the seller (slim sharp) to arrange return of this piece of crap. And they wanted me to pay for the shipping and a $36 restocking fee. I told them no. After about twenty min of arguing they sent me a return label and told me I would not incur a restocking fee. So after they got the product they returned 80% of the money. I called asking why. They told me they would rerun the rest of my money once I took the negative feedback down. So I had no choice but to take it down to get my money. But thank god I had another chance to right this review. DO NOT BUY FROM SLIM SHARP.

This review is from: JBL GTO1014D 10-Inch Die-Cast Dual-Voice-Coil Subwoofer (Electronics) This subwoofer lives up to the JBL Legacy. Tight acurate bass. You will not be dissappointed. I am using two of these JBL Subwoofers in an 8 ohm configuration as part of my home theater and I love them.

Customer Reviews: Ultrastart U1272-pro Remote Car Starter / Keyless Entry Combo with 2,800 Foot Range

This review is from: Ultrastart U1272-pro Remote Car Starter / Keyless Entry Combo with 2,800 Foot Range (Electronics) This kit is very straight forward and has quite a few options as far as 2nd and 3rd optional ouptuts go. I was able to wire it so that holding the unlock button 3 sceonds pops the trunk on my wifes 01 ford taurus completely elimininating the need for the factory key fob. I could also use an output to engage rear defroster if I wanted to. Fob feels sturdy and like it should last quite some time. Range is excellent also.Seems it is good for about 250 yards (real world), about 80-100 yards if walls/interference are present.

Problem is, Ultrastart does not allow access to wiring resources or much of anything unless you are an authorized reseller with login so you’ll need to use something like bulldogsecurity.com for diagrams and colors and adapt them to this kits wiring. “They are close to each other anyways on hookups”

Customer Reviews: Lightspeed ZULU Premium ANR Aviation Headset (Battery Power, Straight cord, Standard Dual GA Plugs)

I owned a Bose X headset for about half a year. When I began flying regularly with other people, I picked up a Lightspeed Zulu headset. I found that the only advantage the Bose has over the Lightspeed is that the clamping force is MARGINALLY lower with the Bose. This has not created a problem for me or my passengers, at all.

I have now sold my Bose X, and picked up another Lightspeed for my passengers to use. It is by far the superior headset, for MANY reasons. Let’s review!

- NOISE ATTENUATION: Bose X is just not as good as Lightspeed Zulu at this. If you are flying behind a high-revving engine such as a Rotax 912ULS, you will find that the Zulu is just as good at 5500 as it is at 2000 – which is to say, quite good, and better than Bose. This is quite a big deal by itself, and more than enough to get my attention and my future business, but Lightspeed didn’t stop there.

- MUSIC: For $850 (formerly $1000), you would assume that Bose could afford to spend ten bucks (or less) integrating a simple 1/8″ jack into the control box so that you could pipe in some music. For some strange reason, Bose elected not to do this. Not only has Lightspeed given you a 1/8″ jack for music, but they have also put a really nice DSP into the control box that lets you turn a sort of surround sound mode called Front Row Center on and off. It also has a mode where it will cut out the music if someone calls you up on the radio, although I have not been able to get that to work particularly well, so I leave that feature turned off. The sound quality is very good for an aviation headset. If your airplane is already wired for music, or you don’t mind wearing earbuds (which I tried with the Bose and found painful, as the Bose pressed them into my ear canal), this may not be a big deal to you. If you are a student pilot and have enough to worry about without music, this may not be a big deal to you RIGHT NOW, but once you’ve got a hundred or two hundred hours and you have enough free attention to enjoy some tunes, it WILL matter to you. The 1/8″ jack supports normal stereo input as well as two-way cell phone plugs.

- BLUETOOTH: You may not care about this, but isn’t it telling that Lightspeed – for $850, at a time when Bose X still cost fully $1,000 – was able to integrate a Bluetooth transciever? This is useful for picking up an IFR clearance on the ground, closing a flight plan, letting your SO know you’re taking off or on the ground without having to shut down the airplane first, etc.

- SERVICE: You’ll be paying well north of a hundred dollars to get your Bose X fixed out-of-warranty. Lightspeed routinely goodwills repairs outside of the warranty period. I have sent two different headsets (an OEM verison of their XC, as well as my older Zulus) in for service. The XCs were YEARS out of warranty, and I had lost my receipt for the Zulus. Both were repaired, FREE OF CHARGE, and shipped back to me. The only thing I had to pay for on either of these was the shipping costs to get the headsets to them – Lightspeed covered the shipping back to me. Now, which is better – paying $150 + shipping, or paying $0 + shipping? I’ll let you do the math on that one.

Bose just does not have it together on the X. It doesn’t do as good a job at attenuating noise as the Lightspeed Zulu. It doesn’t have an audio in port, which is ridiculous on a headset of this price range. It doesn’t have Bluetooth, which you may or may not care about, but which is nice to have. And – the final nail in the coffin – the service is nowhere as good.

Lightspeed, you have done a fantastic job on this headset, and because of it, you have earned a repeat customer. Keep up the good work!

Customer Reviews: Scosche EBS4-4 4 Gauge Spade Terminals – 4 Pack

This review is from: Scosche EBS4-4 4 Gauge Spade Terminals – 4 Pack (Electronics) These spade terminals worked great with my amps. They have a gold finish and just the right size for my 4 awg wire I bought. I soldered them to the wire then slid the boots over them. Good price and there is four enough to do two amps witch is what I needed.

Customer Reviews: Sony RC-100IP Cable for USB CD Receiver

This review is from: Sony RC-100IP Cable for USB CD Receiver (Electronics) I decided to purchase this cable to connect my iphone to my Sony radio in order to stream audio books on my commute to work. This cable is definitely higher quality than the standard white iphone cable that comes with the phone. I highly recommend this if cable if you’re looking for a replacement or extra.

Customer Reviews: Schumacher XI75DU DC to AC Digital Display Power Inverter

Pros:
Provides 750 watts of power as advertised, so long as you use the alligator clips on your car battery.
Digital display is great.
I’m using it right now to power my laptop in my truck as I write this review.
Very good price. (Add a star for this.)

Cons:
I have a full-size pickup with a heavy-duty battery, and if I attempt to run this off my charging port in the truck, I get constant beeps from the unit. Apparently it thinks my battery is about to die, even when it’s completely full.
Starting your vehicle trips the low battery mode, shutting off the inverter. I realize this is a problem with man units, but should be resolved for a five star rating.
This unit is LOUD, like “holy cow what is that racket” loud. If you want to use it inside your vehicle, bring earplugs. I knocked a star off for this.

Other Thoughts:
Four star rating for being pretty awesome, plus one for the price and minus one for the sheer volume.

Customer Reviews: Pyle PLMR34 3.5-Inch 200 Watt Two Way Sealed Speaker System

I changed out my truck radio and am using the stock Ford radio with the speakers….their currently working very well, the stock head supplies enough power to the speakers and i’m satisfied with the sound volume.

Customer Reviews: Dual XPA4640 600 Watt Amplifier

maybe u have an older model mine is a class D. And the input level is exactly that , nothing like a gain control. you should use a voltage meter to meaure head units output and thenmatch apropriately with amp. use meter on amp and u can match together perfectly.Dont worry about the snr rating has nothing to do with volume only distortion and u will find after matching the voltage precisely u can far exceed the snr. U might want to install noise (ignition/alternator) blockers. they will keep sound perfectly clean and help to keep amp from straining. If all is done correctly, light wont dim, amp wont overheat or distort in any way.Run mine for hrs never have any problem. And the DBS my system reaches will blow you away.

Customer Reviews: inCarBite iPad2 Case and Headrest Holder With Power Adapter and 2-channel Infrared Transmitter, M2-20-3R Enhanced

I have a BMW X5 and have been looking for a way to get back seat video. I bought this InCarBite product at a local
Retailer and let me tell you, what an awesome unit. I put my IPad in the holder that easily clips to the head rest posts and wala!
My 6 year daughter puts her Exonic wireless head phones on, selects a movie from the iPad and she is totally happy and completely acupied while we drive. The iPad holder has an infared head phone transmitter in it and seems to work with most if not all wireless head phones. It also came with a cigaret lighter adapter to keep my iPad charged while entertaing my daughter.

I would recommend this to all the people I know. I have a panoramic sun roof with no way to put in a over head monitor DVD player and didn’t want to change out my head rests for the monitor style. I’m my vehicle they would look ugly.

I give the InCarBite products an A+ for quality and workmanship.

Hope this helps other people with similar situations!

Customer Reviews: Brand New Kicker 10zx400.1 400 Watt Rms Mono-block Class D Car Audio Amplifier with Top Mounted Controls and Upgraded Features

First off, the product advertised was not what I recieved! I then shipped it back to get my refund. In the return process, I had so much trouble with the company I purchased from (discount jungle)! Do not purchase from them!!! There customer service reps had to be the rudest people I’ve ever dealt with. I had to talk to several reps that said they would call me back and never would. Then I finally spoke to a managed days later to get my refund and they then tried to charge me processing fees! They also blamed the misleading of the product ordered on amazon and said it was not there fault. That company was very unethical all around!!! Will never do business with Discount Jungle or Amazon again!!!!

Customer Reviews: Sirius Sportster 5 Large Display Satellite Radio

This review is from: Sirius Sportster 5 Large Display Satellite Radio (Electronics) I’ve had this unit for about 30 days.

* The unit, when working, provides poor audio quality sounding less than CD quality as advertised, even when directly connected

* The unit does not remain on for more than 10-40 seconds at a time

* After a dozen or more phone calls with Sirius customer/warranty support, a replacement for a RE-MANUFACTURED unit is to be shipped

* The replacement unit is expected to take a whopping 7-10 days shipping

* I, the customer, must pay to ship the malfunctioning unit back to Sirius

All in all, I expect I’ve got bad luck with the unit and the replacement will likely work fine, however as I said, the sound quality is poor anyway, so I wish I never bought it in the first place, but there is a $75 cancellation fee and my girlfriend is accepting of the audio quality (when working) so she is going to use it once the replacement arrives.

I’m very dissatisfied with Sirius customer/warranty service. They should do better at making the customer happy and ship the unit faster because in the mean time, I still cannot listen to the radio that I’m paying for. Also, having the customer pay the shipping costs to return the broken unit is unprofessional and bad business policy.

Take your own chances with Sirius/XM. I’m guessing you won’t have the same problems I am having as broken units are probably not that frequent, but if you ever have to deal with customer service, expect to deal with uneducated, unhelpful, lazy-sounding people enforcing policies that are NOT designed to make the customer happy.

Customer Reviews: Fish TV Plus 7 inch Screen

I debated on getting the Fish TV Plus 7 for a couple of years. We fish a lot, both ice fishing and from a boat, docks and the bank. I knew my son would love it and I thought it might be fun but didn’t expect it would work very well. Finally pulled the trigger and now wonder why I waited so long. What a fun little fishing toy. Dropping it down and seeing fish staring into the camera is fun but I have really enjoyed seeing what’s below the surface to better target my fishing. The camera worked great right out of the box. Visability is pretty limited in low light and you can’t really tell which direction the camera is pointing but I think something can be rigged up to help with the direction. Anyway, it’s a cool little fishing toy that I would recommend based on my experience.

Customer Reviews: PYLE PLCD9MR AM/FM-MPX In-Dash Marine CD Player with Full Face Detachable Panel

This review is from: PYLE PLCD9MR AM/FM-MPX In-Dash Marine CD Player with Full Face Detachable Panel (Electronics) I purchased this unit to replace a Radio/CD player in a pontoon boat. Purchased 4/27/2010. Installed in pontoon 5/10/2010. Played well but used less than a dozen times before taking the boat out of the water 11/2010. Stored on land, covered, etc. Put the boat back in water 4/2011. First time I played a CD, no problem, until I ejected the CD and inserted another. It would not play and more CD’s that day. Next time out, it would not play any CD at all. To eject the CD it is necessary to press the eject button several times and/or turn the power off, then back on. Unfortunately, my one year warranty had expired a week before I contacted Pyle about it. So now I will have to buy another. But it won’t be this.PYLE PLCD9MR AM/FM-MPX In-Dash Marine CD Player with Full Face Detachable Panel
